Wilpena, known as Ikara in the Adnyamathanha language, is a natural amphitheatre of mountains located within the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park in South Australia. The term “Ikara” translates to “meeting place.” This location is of great geological and cultural significance, showcasing a unique landscape that has evolved over millions of years. Wilpena Pound, or Ikara, features an ancient terrain with origins tracing back 800 million years.
