Willpena Pound Series
The series of landscapes was inspired by a journey to Wilpena Pound. Each work evolved as a quiet collaboration between the landscape itself and the materials through which it was interpreted. The works hold a careful balance between the presence of the landscape and the experimental materials introduced into each painting. The incorporation of iron filings and rust introduced an elemental, earthen presence, echoing the mineral richness of the ranges, while layers of wax allowed for a subtle luminosity—capturing the shifting glow and depth of oranges and purples observed in the changing light.Through these works, I seek to convey not only the visual resonance of the place, but also a process of experimentation and discovery, and a deeper sense of connection to the land that unfolded over time.
