These works engage not the mythology of the Australian landscape but its actual material substrate — the iron chemistry of Ediacaran formations, the copper oxidation of ancient geology, the temporal layering of encaustic that mirrors the accumulation of geological strata. The processes on these surfaces are instances of the same processes that produced the landscapes they participate in — operating at a different scale but through the same material logic.

My practice developed through research into the aleatory — the operation of chance and indeterminacy in natural processes. Nature generates variation and diversity through randomness and is always in a state of flux. The aleatory functions in my work adopt processes in a similar way, negating rational and predetermined methods. I establish conditions and step back
