IKARA
Beneath the vast sky of Ikara,
rust and wax remember the passage of ages,
holding the silence of an ancient land.

Selected Works
The work mirrors the deep geology of time through layered wax and alchemical processes, mirroring the slow, elemental forces that shape our planet over millennia. By layering molten encaustic wax and embedding reactive powdered iron, I build up an artificial stratum that acts as a canvas for natural alchemy. Instead of forcing a literal representation, I apply catalysts like salt and vinegar to initiate a live chemical reaction, then step back—allowing time, corrosion, and the beauty of chance to weather the surface into an authentic geological landscape."
CYANOTYPE PRINTS
This rich Prussian blue cyanotype captures the iconic silhouette of Wilpena Pound, utilizing the historic sun-printing process to interpret the ancient topography. The stark contrast between the deep, shadowed peak and the sun-exposed textures mimics the dramatic light and shifting shadows across the Flinders Ranges. By using a light-sensitive chemical process, the artwork continues your core theme of allowing elemental forces and natural chemistry to dictate the final image.
Crafted for longevity, these museum-grade materials ensure the stark contrast and subtle tones remain uncompromised over generations.
